Privacy Policy

Revision: June 5, 2019

We strongly believe in protecting your privacy and the privacy of all our members. This Privacy Policy (the “Privacy Policy”) describes all of our policies and procedures regarding the collection, use, disclosure, and sharing of your personal information and personal data when you access and/or use Eruditely. This Privacy Policy applies to activities by Eruditely, Inc. and its affiliates and subsidiaries (collectively “Eruditely, Inc.,” “we,” or “us”).

Any capitalized terms that are not defined in this Privacy Policy have the meaning as defined in our Terms of Service, which incorporates this policy by reference into its terms.

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully before choosing to use Eruditely. If you have any questions pertaining to this Privacy Policy, please ask us by contacting Privacy@Eruditely.com.

1. Private vs. Public Information

Throughout this Privacy Policy we use the terms Private Information and Public Information to describe who can access, view, use, share, and disclose your personal information and personal data.

“Private Information” is defined as any of your personal information and personal data that exists on the Platform and may be accessed, viewed, used, shared, and disclosed only by you and Eruditely, Inc.

“Public Information” is defined as any of your personal information and personal data that exists on the Platform and may be accessed, viewed, used, shared, and disclosed by you, Eruditely, Inc., Eruditely members, and the public (non-registered visitors).

2. The Information We Collect

We collect information directly from individuals, from third parties, and automatically through the Platform.

a. Registration Information

When you register an account on Eruditely, we initially collect your full name, username, email address, and password (the “Registration Information”). This information is required in order to create an account on Eruditely. Your full name, email address, and password are Private Information. By contrast your username is Public Information. Your only public identity on Eruditely is your username, which you can change at any time from within your account settings. We will never reveal your full name to other members of Eruditely.

b. Onboarding Information

After your account has been activated, we automatically lead you through a one-time onboarding process in which we collect your knowledge and learning preferences (the “Onboarding Information”). During that process we ask you to identify the categories that you’re generally knowledgeable about and that you’re generally learning about. We also ask you to specify the topics that you’re specifically knowledgeable about and that you’re specifically learning about.

The Onboarding Information is then saved to the Knowledgeable and Learning pages of your account and is used to automatically subscribe you to those categories and topics on the Subscriptions page of your account. The automatic subscribing feature only occurs once after the onboarding process and is meant to populate your Hall page when entering Eruditely for the first time. You have full access to modify and customize your knowledgeable, learning, and subscriptions settings at any time from within your account.

c. Knowledgeable, Learning, and Subscriptions Information

The categories and topics that are saved in your Knowledgeable and Learning pages (the “Knowledgeable and Learning Information”) are Public Information. The categories and topics that are saved in your Subscriptions page (the “Subscriptions Information”) are Private Information. The Knowledgeable and Learning Information is used in multiple locations across the Platform, including but not limited to, your profile, the member tooltips (associated with your username and profile photo), category pages, and topic pages. Additionally, when adding topics anywhere on the Platform, if those topics do not already exist on the Platform, they will be created as new topic pages that other Eruditely members can interact with.

d. Voluntary Information

Some of the information we collect in your Eruditely account is completely voluntary (the “Voluntary Information”), including but not limited to, your profile photo, cover photo, location, website, ethos, and biographical information. All Voluntary Information is Public Information. You may change, edit, or delete your Voluntary Information at any time from within your account.

e. Activity Information

When using Eruditely many of the actions you take are automatically saved and posted to the Activity page of your account (the “Activity Information”). All Activity Information is Public Information. Your Activity page includes a wide variety of information regarding actions you may take on Eruditely, including but not limited to, publishing of Shares, publishing of Contributions, placing votes on Shares and Contributions, following members, mentioning members, and updating of your profile information. You have the ability to edit, add to favorites, or delete any item on the Personal sub-menu of your Activity page at any time, simply by pressing the buttons for specific activity items.

When other members of Eruditely choose to follow you, your Activity Information is then made available to those members in multiple locations of their account (including on their Activity page). The intent of this integration is to allow members who are interested in learning more about you to be able to follow your activity on Eruditely, and more easily interact with you and your content. You have the same ability to follow any members on the Platform, in which case their activity will be displayed within your account.

Another feature of the Activity page allows you to know when other members have @mentioned you (ex. @username) either on their own Activity pages or on Share pages. This functionality acts as both a notification system, and a public message system by which members can speak with one another publicly through their Activity pages.

f. Your Content

All Member Content that you post (“Share”) and comment (“Contribute”) on Eruditely is collected and stored, including but not limited to, Shares, Contributions, information, articles, ideas, media, images, videos, audio, links, and questions. All Member Content that you Share and/or Contribute on Eruditely is Public Information, including but not limited to the following associated meta information: your username, post date, post time, post categories, post topics, post voting data, comments voting data, comments, and comment replies. All Member Content may be indexed by search engines and republished and distributed in search engine result page (“SERPS”). Additionally, all Member Content may be republished and distributed on the internet by Eruditely members unless marked as “not for reproduction,” pursuant to our Terms of Service.

g. Communications

When you communicate with us via email, phone, through the Platform, or by any other means, we may maintain a record of that communication for as long as we feel is necessary.

h. Connected Networks

When creating an account on Eruditely you may register and login via a third-party network that you already have an account with, including but not limited to, Facebook and/or Google (each a “Connected Network”). This is accomplished by using the “Connect with Facebook” and/or “Connect with Google” buttons on the Eruditely login page. Your Connected Networks are Private Information.

After registering via a Connected Network, you may continue to login to Eruditely using the Connected Network, or by using your Eruditely credentials (username, email address, and password). You may also connect or disconnect your Eruditely account at any time with a Connected Network from within your account settings. After disconnecting your Eruditely account from a Connected Network we will no longer receive any information about you from that Connected Network unless you connect your account again.

At the time you connect your Eruditely account with a Connected Network that network automatically provides us with certain information regarding your Connected Network account, including but not limited to, your full name, email address, and profile information. This information is necessary in order to connect your Eruditely account with the Connected Network. We collect only the bare minimum of information from Connected Networks that is necessary to connect your Eruditely account with the Connected Network. The specific information that is provided to us by Connected Networks varies by network and is determined by the Connected Network. To learn more about the precise information that is provided to us by Connected Networks please read the documentation and privacy policies of the respective Connected Network.
