Animated GIF study of a Chickadee landing at a feeder. Chickadees don’t hang around at feeders very long. They are unable to crack open large seeds with their small bills, so they take the seed to another location (usually a tree branch or some other hard surface) and chip away at the shell until they can get to the kernel inside.
